While using a computer, you may encounter certain issues that are beyond any data recovery or defragmentation tool. WinHex comes with hex, disk and RAM editors, data recovery, IT security and computer forensics tools, in a single package. It is a professional tool for emergency situations. You can use it to analyze and edit any files, recover lost or corrupt data and more.

The installation package is almost 2 MB, but it contains a large number of files, so you should extract them in a new folder, to avoid mixing them with other files. After launching the setup.exe file, you just need to specify a destination path and hit an Install button. The setup wizard will install the program's components instantly.

The user interface presents a large number of options on a toolbar and in a series of top menus, but if you know what actions you wish to carry out, you should not have any difficulties finding what you need. You may create new files and insert hex data or open existing files, analyze or edit them. You can also open hard disks or partitions. If you select a file or folder, on the upper half of the interface, the program will display its hex data, which can be edited on the lower half.

It is also possible to open and edit used or unused RAM. You can open individual files from specific applications, which use your RAM. The software places various options at your disposal, which you can use to find and replace text or hex values, jump to specific sectors or offsets, refine volume snapshots and more.

You can also find various disk and file tools. WinHex allows you to clone disks, initialize free or slack space, split or unify files, compare them, create hard links or shred files. The software's features are too many to count. It includes numerous tools, which are normally found as separate applications on the Internet.

Pros

You can inspect and edit any file, disks and RAM. The software gives you access to a huge number of tools, which can be used for data recovery, disk cloning, computer forensics and more.

Cons

You will encounter many restrictions, while using the trial version. Thanks to its complexity and flexibility, WinHex can be used to solve numerous computer issues, like a professional.
